Our mission is to reach people far from God and to make disciples of all people.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ROMANS 5:8
Everything we do at FBC Decatur is filtered through this mission statement. Our desire is to magnify the name of Jesus and share His love with those in our community and around the world.
There are three components of how we accomplish this:
We recognize that God reached out to us, and that we are therefore called to reach others.
WORSHIP. In order to connect with God and reach others, a believer in Christ needs to actively engage in corporate worship with other believers. On Sunday mornings, we come together to worship the risen Savior together with other believers.
SERVICE TIMES. First Baptist offers two worship services on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. The Sanctuary service is a traditional/blended style with choir and orchestra, and the ROC Campus is a more relaxed venue led with acoustic worship.
CHILDREN'S WORSHIP. We want children to be able to worship in a way that helps them understand the importance of a relationship with Christ. Children’s Worship is at 10:30 on Sunday mornings for 4 year olds through 4th grade.
Nursery and childcare are available for all services.
We recognize our need to connect with God as well as others on a daily basis.
SMALL GROUPS provide our primary avenue to connect with God and with others. Each small group focuses on teaching the Bible, reaching others, and caring for needs.
AGE-GRADED SMALL GROUPS small groups are provided for infants through high school students each Sunday at 9:15 am.
ADULT GROUPS form more around life stages than specific ages. These classifications are general descriptions and would not apply to every person in the group. They provide simple guidelines to link people of similar interests and are in no way limited to the general life stage listed.
We recognize our responsibility as Christians to use our lives to serve Christ through serving others.
We serve through being a part of God’s work both within and outside of the church. There are a multitude of opportunities for you to get involved in serving through the use of your God-given talents and resources.
