An interview with
Larry Hyche,
Minister to Students
What
is your most vivid memory as a child?
Not sure
if I can share that without someone being incarcerated. Just
kidding- sitting with my family, watching TV, and eating popcorn
that mom made on the stove.
What
is a favorite tradition at Christmas?
Having a
big breakfast on Christmas morning with the family.
What
sports or hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I like
bowling, photography, art, going to the movies, driving, and
going to antique car shows…oh and going to any festival that
involves fried pies
What
is something that would surprise us about you?
That I
am a Siamese twin….you didn’t say it had to be true!
How
did you come to know Christ?
VBS 1985
is when I made my decision to give my life to Him.
What
were your best and worst subjects in school?
Best-art
and science. Worst- economics
How
did you enter the ministry?
God had
me teaching youth SS when I was 17 and He continued to take me
deeper and deeper in serving Him until as a junior at UAB He
called me into the ministry.
Tell
us about your pets.
Don’t
have any yet, but hoping to get some fish soon. They’re so
relaxing to watch!
What
do you do at FBC?
Student
ministry and “other duties as assigned”
What
is your favorite?
Food –
too many to list. Let me tell you what I don’t like- chile and
anything ending with “greens” in it’s name.
Color - gray
Season – fall by far!
Sport – not a big sports guy but I do like watching AL football
Music – oldies, old country, disco (yeh I said it), alternative
Christian
Musical Group – Skillet, Plumb, Buck Owens, Elvis, Platters…
Book – The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel
Song – To name a few: Keep it Coming Love by K.C. and the Sunshine
Band; Without You by Plumb; Plan B by Mutemath
Bible Verse – John 10:10- Life in Christ is the ONLY way to get the
most out of this life! Acts 20:24- I’m basically worthless if I’m
not pointing people to the Gospel of Jesus.
Movie – again there are several- Star Wars, Batman, most comic book
movies. I’m a thoroughbred geek, which I think is the 5th
type on Larry Little’s personality chart.
